Red Sox sign another starter: James Paxton

The Red Sox have pulled the trigger on signing another starting pitcher this offseason… James Paxton. That’s right Sox fans, it’s going to be one of those offseasons, so buckle up. Paxton had Tommy John in April, so he will likely not be able to pitch for the Sox until at least April possibly even May or June. The Sox gave him $10M guaranteed this season, with club options for 2023 and 2024 that could total up to $35M if activated. This is a super high risk signing that could yield good results if it works out. Paxton is a good career starter and a lefty as well, the only other lefty in the rotation besides ace Chris Sale. Time will tell if this was a colossal fail or a sneaky good signing.
