NFL Sunday of Week 9 has come and gone, and boy was it a wild one. Upsets, upsets, upsets. It made for an interesting week for betting. If you haven’t gotten into sports betting yet and are interested in getting into it, I recommend using myBookie, and I will link a referral link here. When depositing for the first time, I would recommend using the $500 Sports Reload Bonus option, which will give you a 25% match on whatever you choose to deposit. If you deposit $200, you would have $50 in free play. Free play is weird, and I will write an article on that soon. The negative that comes along with this promotion is that it comes with a 5x rollover. This meaning that before you can cash out, you have to place bets with 5x the amount you deposit, so in our example, you would have to bet $1000 worth of wagers before cashing out. I know that sounds like a lot, but trust me it isn’t as much as you think. Anyway let’s get onto the Week 9 recap.
Teams favored to win on Sunday went 5-6 this week. That is a rough record for teams favored to win, including some teams that were heavily favored (Bills -1000, DAL -490, LAR -345) Those were the 3 most heavily favored teams entering Sunday. They all lost outright. As well as the Saints (-270), 49ers (-145) and the Bengals (-135)
In addition to all the teams that lost outright, two other teams on top of those lost against the spread. Those were KC (-7.5) and BAL (-6). Those were both good games and it wasn’t too unlikely to see those spreads not get covered.
For me personally this Sunday, I picked 6 spreads to bet on and put them into 3 2-team parlays. I won 5 of my 6, winning 2 of the 3 parlays. My 6 picks were the following;
Bills (-14.5) – Lost obviously, Bills loss was the upset of the week, no doubt.
Patriots (-3) – Won, Pats easily covered the spread this week.
Cardinals (+3.5) – Won, the Cardinals also won outright and dominated the 49ers even without their top 2 players (Murray and Hopkins)
Falcons (+7) – Won, the Falcons also won outright over the Saints in a very close game.
Packers (+7) – Won, but barely. The Packers lost by 6 and in addition the Chiefs COULD have kicked a field goal at the end of the game to make it a 9 point spread but instead took a knee to lock in the win. Thank God Andy Reid played it safe, I almost lost this one.
And finally, my lock of the week;
Chargers (-1) – The Chargers were only favored by 1 point against the Eagles, which I thought was ridiculous. The Eagles really picked it up last week against the Lions but prior to that game, they had been atrocious all season long. Granted, the Chargers only ended up winning by a field goal because the Eagles have stepped it up as of late with a new revamped run game, but this was my lock of the week and I made it work.
With 2-team spread parlays, depending on the odds of the matchups, the parlay odds usually land somewhere around +250 to +272. Meaning if you were to bet $100 on one and win it, you would profit that number ($100 bet at +250 odds would profit you $250, leaving you with $350 from your $100). This means that if you were do what I did and put out 3 2-team parlays, you technically only need to win 1 in order to break even/ win a small amount of money. In my case, I won 2 of the 3 and made a pretty decent profit margin (2.3 times what I bet).
