The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to terms on a 5 year, $110M deal contract with SP Kevin Gausman in the latest domino of an extremely fast-paced MLB offseason. The Blue Jays already lost Steven Matz and with this move, they are likely giving up on re-signing Robbie Ray as well, although that of course remains to be seen. Gausman had a great season for the 107-win Giants this year pitching to a 2.81 ERA over 33 starts. He had a record of 14-6 and had a WAR of 5.4. Gausman has had a long MLB career and his 2021 season was relatively his only good one, getting his only all-star appearance. This contract is a fairly high risk one in my opinion, but it remains to be seen if it will work out for the Jays.
In other news in the market, Scherzer is expected to make his choice later today. Stay tuned for that!
