Just a day after signing Marcus Semien to a monster contract, the Texas Rangers have struck again. They have signed superstar shortstop Corey Seager to a 10 year, $325M contract, by far the biggest contract handed out so far this offseason. This will lock down the middle infield for Texas and the middle of the lineup, giving them a boost in production but also costing them a combined $57M for the two players per season. This is absolutely massive as they have taken 2 out of the big 5 off of the board this offseason.
Winners:
- Seager for the contract
- Rangers for getting fans back and making a run at being competitive
- Semien for having some help in the lineup
Losers:
- Yankees for missing out
- Dodgers for losing Seager
- The AL West, who’s easy wins against Texas are a thing of the past
